Forestry Mulching · Atlanta, Georgia
Forestry mulching,done in one pass.
Broadax Construction is a veteran owned, self performing contractor based in Atlanta. We mulch brush, saplings, fence lines, and overgrown acreage in place, leaving a stabilizing mulch mat instead of bare soil on lots, commercial tracts, and industrial campuses across Georgia and the Southeast.
Scope · 001
What forestry mulching covers.
One crew and one point of contact, from the first pass through the acreage to a site you can walk and survey.
Underbrush & Sapling Mulching
Single pass mulching of brush, briars, and saplings that leaves a stabilizing mulch mat instead of bare, erodible soil.
Fence Line & Right of Way Clearing
Linear clearing along fence lines, property boundaries, utility corridors, and access easements without disturbing the root zone.
Selective Tree Thinning
Thinning of undesirable stems while protecting specimen hardwoods, buffer trees, and anything flagged on the site walk.
Trail & Access Path Cutting
Mulched trails, food plots, hunting lanes, and machine access paths cut to the width and route you mark with us.
Storm & Overgrowth Cleanup
Downed limbs, blowdown, and years of overgrowth processed on site so nothing has to be hauled to a landfill.
Survey Sight Line Clearing
Opening lines for survey crews, staking, geotech borings, and wetland delineation ahead of design and permitting.

Questions · 004
Forestry mulching questions we get asked.
Straight answers on cost per acre, stem size, stumps, and erosion control. These four things decide whether mulching is the right tool for your site.
What is forestry mulching, and how is it different from clearing?
Forestry mulching grinds standing brush and small trees in place and leaves the chips on the ground as a mulch layer. Traditional clearing cuts, piles, and hauls material off site, and usually includes grubbing the root mat. Mulching is faster, cheaper per acre, and leaves erosion resistant cover, but it does not remove stumps or produce a gradeable pad. If a building pad or slab is coming next, you need clearing and grubbing, not just mulching.
How much does forestry mulching cost per acre in Georgia?
Price is driven by stem density and trunk diameter more than acreage. Light brush and saplings run fast; dense hardwood understory with stems from 6 to 10 inches takes several times as long on the same acre. Slope, wet ground, buried debris, and restricted access all extend the hours. We walk the site, tell you which density band it falls in, and price it in writing before mobilizing.
What size material can you mulch?
As a rule of thumb, stems up to roughly 8 inches in diameter mulch efficiently. Larger trees are dropped and either processed separately or hauled, and we price that as a separate line so you can see what the big timber actually costs.
Do stumps get removed?
Not by mulching alone. Mulching leaves a low stump cut flush. If your next step is grading, foundations, or paving, we add grubbing and stump removal to the scope and show it as its own line item.
Does mulching help with erosion control?
Yes. That is one of its real advantages. The mulch mat holds soil in place and reduces runoff compared with clearing to bare dirt, which matters on sloped sites and inside permitted projects. Where the permit requires it, we still install and maintain silt fence, construction exits, and inlet protection to the approved ES&PC plan.
How soon can you mobilize?
Site walks are usually inside a week of the call. Mulching only scopes with no permit trigger can often start within one to two weeks of a signed proposal, weather and ground conditions permitting.
How do you select equipment for the work?
Broadax matches the equipment and crew plan to the acreage, stem density, terrain, access, and required finish.
